Crucial Workshop Rule: Always Apply 2K Epoxy Primer (Never Body Filler or Wash Primers Directly!)
ALWAYS RECOMMENDED

A 2K epoxy primer is ALWAYS recommended after RUSTEC™ (min. 24h cure). 2K epoxy primer creates an indestructible, hermetic chemical-mechanical tie-coat barrier prior to topcoating or cavity waxing.

STRICTLY PROHIBITED DIRECT APPLICATION

NEVER apply polyester body fillers or wash primers (etch primers) directly onto RUSTEC™:

  • ❌ Polyester Body Fillers (Szpachla): Always apply over the cured, scuffed 2K epoxy primer, NEVER directly onto the rust converter film.
  • ❌ Wash Primers (Acid Etch Primers): Free phosphoric acid in wash primers degrades and damages the Ultra-Barrier™ copolymer matrix.

Why Conventional Methods Fall Short?

Traditional rust treatment methods are either excessively costly, hazardous in operating plants, or ineffective. Compare RUSTEC™ with abrasive blasting and acid washes.

Abrasive Sandblasting

Sa 2.5 Standard
  • Extreme equipment and diesel compressor costs
  • Sparks and ignition hazard (prohibited on live lines)
  • Tons of hazardous dust and environmental waste
  • Mandatory shutdown of plant operations

Conventional Acid Washes

Phosphoric / Hydrochloric Acid
  • Requires water rinsing before painting
  • High risk of immediate flash rusting
  • Harsh fumes and hazardous solvent vapors
  • Poor intercoat adhesion with heavy epoxies
Industry Benchmark

RUSTEC™ Polymer System

Ultra-Barrier™ + Bio-Active (St 2)
  • Zero rinsing – transforms into a tough functional primer
  • Impermeable polymer matrix seals out O₂ and H₂O
  • Wire-brush prep only (ISO 8501-1 St 2 grade)
  • Innovative cured polymer: 100% chemically inert – zero reaction with any automotive or industrial primer system
  • Optical UV Inspection (365 nm) – instant verification of 100% pinhole-free film barrier
Breakthrough Chemical Innovation • Ultra-Barrier™ Matrix

Innovative Cured Polymer: 100% Chemically Inert & Completely Safe Under All Anticorrosive Primer Systems

The pivotal technological innovation of RUSTEC™ lies in the post-cure behavior of its cross-linked copolymer matrix (after 24 hours). Whereas legacy acid- or tannin-based converters leave active chemical residues that aggressively react with paint thinners—triggering primer wrinkling, blistering, and delamination—cured RUSTEC™ polymer turns 100% chemically inert. No primer—neither automotive nor heavy-duty industrial—reacts with the cured film. RUSTEC™ creates an impermeable, monolithic anchor foundation compatible with every coating system known to the industry.

Automotive & Restoration Systems

Body shops, 4x4 boxed chassis frames, sills, and underbodies

  • 2K Epoxy Primers (Novol, Spectral, Troton, PPG): Cured polymer is non-reactive with amine curing agents—zero solvent lifting, bubbling, or primer wrinkling.
  • 2K Acrylic & Polyurethane Systems: Aggressive nitro, acrylic, and acetate thinners cannot soften or dissolve the densely cross-linked barrier.
  • Polyurethane Bedliners (Raptor, Cobra, U-Pol): Maximum mechanical intercoat adhesion on 4x4 frames, wheel wells, and rocker panels.
  • Anticorrosion Waxes & Rubberized Coatings: Immediate overcoating with dry waxes, oil-based rustproofing, and cavity wax wands without barrier degradation.

Heavy-Duty Industrial Systems

ISO 12944 Standard (Corrosivity Categories C3, C4, C5-M, C5-I)

  • Heavy Epoxy & Zinc-Rich Primers (Jotun, Hempel, Sigma): Acts as a stable dielectric barrier in pipelines, shipyards, and offshore structural gantries.
  • Industrial Polyurethane Topcoats: Outstanding chemical and salt fog resistance on agricultural machinery, trailers, and chemical processing skids.
  • Chlorinated Rubber, Alkyd & Vinyl Paints: Zero lifting, swelling, or crinkling when refurbishing historical bridges, roofs, and storage tanks.
  • Polyaspartic & Polyurea Coatings: Impervious to high-pressure hot spray application used in aggressive wastewater and mining environments.

Total Chemical Neutrality & Zero Coating Rejection Guarantee

Through the innovative fusion of our bio-active chelation agent and Ultra-Barrier™ copolymer, all chemical oxidation reactions are sealed inside the steel microstructure. Once fully cured, RUSTEC™ emits zero volatile byproducts and is 100% chemically unreactive toward all paints, primers, and resins—completely eliminating blisters, wrinkling, and costly coating warranty claims.

How Does RUSTEC™ Work in Practice?

Application is fast, clean, and requires no specialized grit blasting machinery.

01

Frequently Asked Questions

Key practical answers for industrial applicators, painters, and car restoration professionals.

Strictly NO. Unlike obsolete phosphoric acid rust removers, RUSTEC™ is not an etching wash – it is a functional converter and high-adhesion primer. The cured polymer matrix forms an integral barrier layer. Rinsing it with water would compromise the protective shield.
Thanks to the Ultra-Barrier™ polymer matrix, the surface is fully inert and solvent-resistant. You can overcoat with virtually any paint: heavy-duty 2K industrial epoxies, polyurethanes, alkyds, synthetic acrylics, as well as undercoating bitumen and waxes.
No! That is the fundamental commercial advantage of RUSTEC™ as a true Surface Tolerant Primer. Simply remove loose, exfoliating rust using a hand wire brush (St 2 standard). Firmly adhering rust serves as the active substrate for chemical chelation.
RUSTEC™ is delivered ready to use. Do NOT dilute with water, thinners, or solvents, as dilution upsets the precisely balanced ratio of chelating agent to barrier polymer and diminishes barrier properties.
Always decant the required quantity into a clean plastic cup or tray. Dipping a brush loaded with microscopic rust particles back into the original bottle will trigger reaction inside the container and spoil the remaining shelf life.
The product is touch dry within 1–2 hours. Full polymer coalescence and chelation complete within 24 hours at +20°C. Recommended application temperature spans +5°C to +30°C.
Optical quality control in RUSTEC™ is powered by proprietary Fluor-Lock™ molecular fluorescent tracers. After application and curing, simply illuminate the surface with a standard UV inspection lamp or torch (365 nm or 395 nm wavelength). The properly sealed metal emits an unmistakable uniform fluorescent glow. Missed spots, pinholes, or excessively thin areas remain completely dark, allowing applicators and QA inspectors to instantly detect and touch up hard-to-reach areas, hollow sections, chassis rails, and structural steelwork. This is a game-changing commercial advantage unique to RUSTEC™.
